New Pianos For Sale in Plano

Steinway Piano Gallery in Plano

Address: 5813 Preston Rd #570, Plano, TX 75093

It comes as no surprise that Plano, a community full of pianists and those who appreciate the arts, would have its own Steinway gallery. At the gallery, you can test and purchase new Steinway, Essex, and Boston piano models, and their used piano inventory stocks a revolving selection of former trade-ins (you may find Baldwin, Yamahas, etc.). You can also purchase a stunning new Spirio player piano, a Steinway brand.

Kawai Piano Gallery in Plano

Address: 601 W Plano Pkwy, Plano, TX 75075

Kawai has made a storming comeback in the piano community in recent years. The quality and sound of their instruments continues to improve, led by the world class EX Concert Grand. Kawai also stocks a number of digital pianos, with the headliner being the Novus digital hybrid series of pianos. These pair digital sound with a genuine physical piano action, including wooden hammers and pedal resistance. If space is a limitation, you should consider trying out a digital hybrid piano.

Metroplex Piano - Plano’s Yamaha Dealer

Address: 7225 Central Expy, Plano, TX 75025

If you are in the market for a new Yamaha, this is your destination. Yamaha pianos are beautiful instruments that are easy to play, have excellent value, and are priced much more competitively (new grands starting around $40K) than Steinway pianos. They have a full grand piano, Clavinova, upright piano, and used piano inventory. Furthermore, we recommend that you take the time to try out a spectacular AvantGrand digital hybrid piano.

Used Pianos For Sale Near Plano, TX

You will be able to test play used Yamaha pianos, Steinways, and so much more, and they do accept trade-ins if you are looking to upsize. They also carry an inventory of pre-owned Baldwin and Kawai pianos, along with affordable brands like Howard and Kohler. Their pre-owned Steinway collection is particularly strong, with instruments starting around $30K.

Concert Pianos - a Used Steinway Retailer

Address: 4501 Alpha Rd # 110, Dallas, TX 75244

Also located in North Dallas, Concert Pianos specializes in used and refurbished Steinway instruments. A quick look at their inventory reveals only grand pianos, but they have various models and sizes, including the Steinway A, B, and M series. If you express interest in the ever-popular S models, they would likely be able to get one for you.

Considerations When Buying a Piano

Is There an Advantage To Buying a New Piano?

If you are purchasing a digital instrument, like a Clavinova or digital hybrid piano, you should aim to make a new purchase. Even the highest-end digital hybrids (AvantGrand N3X) top out around $23,000, far lower than a new acoustic grand piano. That’s because technology does wear out, and they may become obsolete within a decade.

Used acoustic pianos, on the other hand, hold their value quite well. Steinways in particular can actually appreciate over time. So if you are in the market for a Steinway grand, paying $40,000 for the used version of a piano that retails at $100,000 may be an excellent investment. The same applies to Yamaha, Baldwin, and other brands.

That said, if you purchase a grand piano, it should be with the intention of keeping it in the family forever. If the instrument is in the family for a century or more, the initial purchase price may not seem particularly relevant.

It Is Ok To Buy a Used Piano?

Of course! But remember that you get what you pay for very often. If you purchase a pre owned piano from one of the dealers shown above, it will cost $5K+ more than if you purchase it on Facebook marketplace or Craigslist. That’s because dealers refurbish, polish, regulate, and otherwise repair used pianos before they sell them. They will very often deliver the piano as well, which can cost hundreds of dollars if you pay for it yourself.
